چکیده

Sinus node dysfunction (SND) is characterized by disease of the sinus and/or contiguous atrial tissue resulting in generation heart rate that not commensurate with physiologic need body due to various causes. SND an ailment commonly found advanced age group, a mean 68 years, and rarely young. Making diagnosis requires presence symptoms coincide abnormal electrocardiographic (ECG) findings, are non-specific. There limited report this condition young, available reports show most cases occur young children underlying defects mostly males. The describes unusual presentation ‘sinus disease’ Caucasian female no cardiac abnormalities presented syncope bradycardia. A 36-year-old our facility complaints recurrent episodes brief period loss consciousness associated intermittent palpitations background cardiovascular disease. Rest 12-lead ECG showed bradycardia, while 24-hour Holter periods ‘supraventricular tachycardia’, tachycardia- bradycardia occurring symptoms. was made permanent pacemaker offered, but she her spouse opted have procedure done home country. ‘Sinus through aged can be without suspected people unexplained syncope.

Cardiogenic syncope and epilepsy.

SYNCOPE has been defined as 'a failure of the heart's action resulting in loss of consciousness or sometimes in death' (O.E.D.). Since Gower's discussion of vaso-vagal attacks (1907) many forms of reflex syncope have been described and studied, among them cough syncope (Baker, 1949), carotid sinus syncope (Weiss, 1935) and micturition syncope (Coggins, Lillington & Gray, 1964). The sudden and t...

Pacemaker channel dysfunction in a patient with sinus node disease.

The cardiac pacemaker current I(f) is a major determinant of diastolic depolarization in sinus nodal cells and has a key role in heartbeat generation. Therefore, we hypothesized that some forms of "idiopathic" sinus node dysfunction (SND) are related to inherited dysfunctions of cardiac pacemaker ion channels. In a candidate gene approach, a heterozygous 1-bp deletion (1631delC) in exon 5 of th...

Electrophysiological features in patients with sinus node dysfunction and vasovagal syncope

INTRODUCTION Syncope is a common presentation of sinus node dysfunction (SND). Some patients who receive a permanent pacemaker due to SND do not benefit from it and further diagnostic workup leads to the diagnosis of vasovagal syncope (VVS). The aim of the study was to identify electrophysiological criteria that can be used for identification of patients with SND and concurrent VVS. MATERIAL ...
